Position Overview
The Tribal Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial records of tribal organizations, ensuring compliance with public accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. This position aims to support the financial integrity and sustainability of tribal operations while fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee the financial records for tribal organizations
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and accounting standards
- Provide client accounting services to tribal entities
- Collaborate with management on budgeting and financial planning
- Assist in audits and prepare necessary documentation
- Offer financial guidance and support to tribal leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification preferred
- Experience in public accounting, particularly with tribal or Native American organizations
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
- Cultural competency and understanding of indigenous communities
